THE NAME 'BANSENSHUKAI'

The name 'Bansenshukai' was given to Mark Bramble's dojo by Grandmaster Shoto Tanemura. It has the meaning of 'All The World's Rivers Collect In The Sea'. This name is taken from the most famous of all books written on the art of Ninjutsu in the 17th century.

ABOUT OUR CLASSES

The training offered within the Genbukan include a scope of traditional martial systems, including: Ninpo Taijutsu (Unarmed Defense), KJJR (Ju-jutsu), Bo-jutsu (Staff), Biken-jutsu (Sword), Spiritual Training and more.

Ninpo Taijutsu
The curriculum in the Genbukan is centered on the teaching of the Ninpo Sanjurokkei (36 areas of training) that consists of 18 forms of traditional Japanese martial arts (Bugei Juhappan) in combination with the 18 forms of Ninpo (Ninja Juhakei).

Of these, two remain the most important. Taijutsu (Unarmed Defense) and Seishin Tekikyo Yo (Spiritual Refinement).

Kokusai Ju-jutsu Renmei
Traditional ju-jutsu, as given through the KJJR, is offered for the preservation of the authentic art. This system is taught with modern sense of application while maintaining the principles of proper etiquette and antiquity. The study of ju-jutsu empty-handed methods include:

  • Ate waza (Striking Methods)
  • Kansetsu waza (Joint Locking Methods)
  • Osei waza (Pinning Methods)
  • Nage waza (Throwing Techniques)
  • Shime waza (Choking Techniques)

"What has always drawn me to Ninpo is the profound sense of spirit that is connected to the training. What seems to me to be the most valuable things I have gained from this art are not things that have been shown, but things that I have felt.

My enjoyment of teaching is only a mirror for the hard working and good spirited students I have been fortunate to train and train with. It is my goal to pass along not only the martial side to this art, but also this spirit that I feel blessed to have touched."
