Thank you for visiting the website for the Genbukan Bansenshukai Dojo.

We are honored to be the first and only Genbukan Ninpo dojo in the state of Delaware. Our teachings come from Grandmaster Shoto Tanemura of Saitama Japan, and as a direct student, Dojo-cho Mark Bramble offers instruction in the Genbukan systems located further down this page.

Our students are part of an international martial family that focuses on training the complete martial artist physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. If you are ready to take the next step for yourself in becoming a part of this ancient tradition, you can find more information about joining here.

Amatsu Tatara

Amatsu Tatara is an ancient system of wisdom and healing dating back to 700BC. The teachings include Bumon (martial arts) and Shumon (Spiritual), and traditionally were only taught to special high-level grandmasters and priests. Today it is presented by Tanemura Soke to his students in order to give insight into these teachings.

Ninpo Bugei

Ninpo, more commonly known by the terms Ninjutsu and Ninja, focuses on training in 36 areas known as Ninpo Sanjurokkei. These areas have evolved depending on the era, in order to address the need for defense against weapons and skills of the time.

The unarmed defense, known as Taijutsu, focuses on: Taihen-jutsu (body movement), Dakken Taijutsu (striking methods), Jutai-jutsu (grappling methods), and Kyusho-jutsu (weak points of the body), in order to escape or control an aggressor.

It is also important to develop ones heart and spirit to be strong while remaining compassionate. Ninpo has a rich history over 2,000 years old, and is a comprehensive warrior system.

Kokusai Ju-jutsu

Ju-jutsu is taught as a system of traditional warrior training which focuses on overcoming and subduing an attacker through its methods of self protection. At the Bansenshukai Dojo, students begin learning Ninpo and progress into studying Ju-jutsu in addition to Ninpo.

Other Systems:

Though the above systems represent the core of training at the Bansenshukai Dojo, other systems which students have the opportunity to learn include: Ryu-ha (traditional martial arts lineages), Koryu Karate (not to be confused with Karate commonly offered at martial arts schools, Koryu Karate brings a philosophy of strong, quick, and effective defense skills), Chugoku Kenpo (Chinese Martial Arts), and Goshin-jutsu (Self-Defense).

Our methods of self-protection include 'Koryu' (traditional) and 'Gendai' (modern) applications.

We offer both classes during the week and on weekends. In addition to public classes, Bansenshukai Dojo also offers private and semi-private classes.

We provide co-ed training for adults, ages 15 and up. The Bansenshukai Dojo formally invites you to participate in a complimentary class. To schedule a time to attend, please contact us at (410)441-1340, or by emailing us at: Training Info.
